I love weddings. It’s the calmness after the storm knowing that this is a celebration. A time to take a set back and marvel at the decision a couple have made and commit to each other. While this journey to the aisle, I am yet to experience, sharing my Perspective and offering my brides and grooms the experience one which they shall live to remember is a duty I take up very seriously. I believe it’s a relation, the business of weddings, but even as I’m crunching numbers, one thing remains very clear, I am a history, here to document the legacy of your history using the lens of my eyes, one legacy at a time. While I work with a small group of 2-3 people, depending on the event presented, there are some guidelines, I wish all brides would know before booking with me. Below I will guide you on each one of them. I’m too excited to receive the call or have an email response reading, WILL YOU BE MY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER? Why would I say no to such a proposal? (It’s rhetoric )
HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR
DREAM WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
TIP ONE:
She must be a great Listener.
This is an attribute of communication that is normally downplayed A LOT. It’s so easy yet so difficult. Find you a tog , who will not only hear you, but who will go through the tides and rough patch of planning this wedding with you to fulfil your needs.
she must be ...
2. A professional.
3. Must have similar sets of values as you.
4. Transparent about the process.
5. Strike a balance.
TIP TWO:
Well done is better than well said.
TIP THREE.
She must be a professional.
Let me explain this. The photographer understands that this is a blossoming client-photographer relationship. And like every relationship, boundaries make it a healthy way of blossoming. She is not constantly calling you, brushing off your requests /ideas, she is not down playing your process. She will, however , dress APPROPRIATELY on your wedding day , and most of all she will respect you and your loved ones’ personal space
TIP FOUR.
She must be very transparent about the process.
Transparency and Vulnerability are some of the most basic human behaviours that have been neglected. Book a photographer who will be HONEST with her pricing, her turnaround time, her place of work, credible reviews of clients whom she has worked with and the cherry on top, One whose word means BUSINESS.
She must have chemistry , competent and character to document a successful event.
TIP FIVE.
She must know how to strike a balance between fun & work.
Here’s why.
A boring photographer = Stressed Client.
- One who does not offer direction. One who does not deliver on her promises.
- One who does not help calm the morning butterflies hours before the wedding.
- One who does not have chemistry with your bridal party. I mean, Who wants that?
vs
An exciting larger-than-life optimistic personality = The happiest birdal couple on this side of the Sahara.
- She will pose & direct you to produce timeless imagery.
- Eloquent Communicator. One who is emotionally invested with you.
- One who will cheer you on your most memorable day.
