We don’t know much about the world we live in. Only a fraction of the knowledge and its mysteries have been revealed to us. Yet amidst the unknown, we find comfort in structures and order. These frameworks help us navigate our reality.
No this is not an interlude to the matrix, making you question “Should I take the blue pill or red pill.” Neither am I Morpheus or the oracle, but a woman playing back the curious thoughts about the world we live in.
Recently, I read Becoming a Leader of Influence by John Maxwell. It led me to reflect deeply on the concept of influence. What is influence and why is it such a big deal? As Poet Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Every man is a hero and an oracle to somebody, and to that person, whatever he says has an enhanced value.”
Every man is a hero and an oracle to somebody, and to that person, whatever he says has an enhanced value.
What is influence? Lessons from John Maxwell.
John Maxwell has created a formula that summarises influence in four words in order of operation: Model, Motivate, Mentor, and Multiply. He explains that there are foundational levels of creating impact to people. People are influenced by what they see. Your actions set an example, positively or negatively. People are modelled, either positively or negatively, through motivation. Encouraging others inspires them to pursue their potential. Motivation creates momentum. Mentoring is sharing your knowledge and guiding others through challenges enables growth and transformation. The highest level of influence is helping others become influencers, passing out what they’ve learned. This is Multiplication.
Maxwell emphasizes that to elevate your influence, you must invest time and attention in others. Ture impact lies in empowering people to achieve more than they through possible.
The Seven Principles of Purpose.
As I reflect on influence, I couldn’t help but connect it to the systems that guide our lives. let’s take a deep dive into the systems we follow today that are somewhat ingrained – let’s call them, a set of principles and frameworks that guide our lives and at the core of this system is a mission.A Mission defines our destination and purpose, while the vision explains the why behind our journey, inspiring clarity and motivation. The strategy outlines actionable steps to achieve the mission, and objectives serve as measurable mile markers for progress. Champions drive the journey, contributing their strengths, while alignment connects every role to the mission for synergy. Finally, evaluation measures our success and identifies improvement areas, allowing for strategy adjustments. These seven steps create a powerful methodology for living out our purpose.
Faith and The Framework of purpose.
As a co-creator with Elohim, I see these principles reflected in His design for us. Our mission, outlined in Genesis 1:28, is to “be fruitful and increase in number, fill the earth and subdue it.” Even after humanity’s fall in Genesis 3, God’s vision for redemption remained: “to make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). His strategy is embodied in the Bible—66 books of guidance—championed by the 12 disciples, prophets, judges, warriors, and ordinary people like you and me. Each person’s purpose is uniquely expressed through their God-given gifts. Ultimately, our evaluation will come when we are asked, “What did you do with what was given to you?”
Perhaps, I am trying to make sense of a curious mind. Asking myself while these principles are well clearly put out, have I and will hear the words “Welcome home, my good and faithful servant” I guess this is a question I will ponder on and do my best to live out a life of purpose.
