Val and Martin. From the beginning, I was fascinated as they narrated how they met. A story of friendship turned to commitment to each other. How did two strangers who were constantly sharing insider jokes, not see how much in love they were with one another? It had to take their friends to intervene and open their eyes. Martin, being a man of his word, relentlessly pursued Val. Who is a powerhouse, a clear thinker, and such a nurturer? To date, I view the imagery and am reminded of how special their bond of commitment has left such great hope for those waiting.

Here I am, living in what felt like a dream. Ibra and Chella taking my direction, their siblings cheering them on in the background. You could hear the AWWWs from behind me with every snap. At some point, I nearly shed a tear at how swell the imagery turned out picking through my camera’s viewfinder. What I loved about Chella and Ibra, was that they trusted me all the way. My direction, the choice of location. No questions of doubt. I almost did not feel real. And yet it was real. Very real. It was an honour being around all this love. Documenting the beautiful union around family and friends. I could only smile and look-up knowing, this was another History in the making documented for their Legacy.

Arnold found my work online on my Instagram handle, lensitivity photography. Before this, we had never spoken. The meeting was at Java Kimathi Street. He expressed to me that He found his person. I was intruding. He spoke so highly of June before I could even meet her. I could already tell how peaceful and nurturing her aura was. The more he spoke, the more I took a mental note. Upon meeting June, the day we were scheduled for her engagement session, everything that Arnold had expressed about her was spot on. I loved her quiet and calm spirit, her warmth and welcoming persona. I remember taking Arnold to the side and nudging him, you made the right choice. Don’t let her go. I cannot help it, I am a romantic. Love stories are my cup of tea. And learning more about their friends , and family , their history. I loved it. Glad to say, she said yes. At one of the rooftop furnished apartments at the Maiyani Resort. To June and Arnold, a huge congratulations.
