Have I told you of the time we hiked to our couple’s private session? Well, it was a hot November Day. Ibra wanted a unique couple session for him and his lady. To say I was elated doesn’t bring justice to how I was feeling. For a while, I had dreamt about taking a couple to this location I had spotted a while back while I was hiking. This was about three years back. The warm atmosphere, the scenery, and the privacy it presented. I made a mental note, this was the place I would bring a very special couple to. Three years later, here I am having a conversation with Ibra about it. Calling dreams into existence. I could not believe it.
I sat at my desk that afternoon, skimming through Pinterest to create the perfect mood board. I was leaning towards a warm earthy colour palette. Everything was set to the final detail. To how Chella would dress, her make up her extra garments. Ibra was go chill and he was sold on the idea.

It was D-day. Drove up to Chella’s home. The make-up session was still in place as Ibra caught up with a game of Fifa. I thought about doing a first reveal for her, but then again, some treats needed to be reserved for the wedding day. I let the idea slide. Adorned in her orange body suit, and golden make-up that made her face shine, I love that the make-up artist was very detailed about my request. Chella could not hide her excitement. She had been looking forward to this day and the private location I’d shared with her and Ibra. Did I say excited? I meant ELATED!
We drove up to the said location. The cool afternoon breeze made it all worth the
drive. I would have wanted to do a backpacking adventure, but to be honest, the
equipment alone would have made this an impossible walk. We packed our vehicles about 500 metres from our line of sight and had walkie-talkies just in case anything would happen. It made communication easier since the network around the area had a habit of dropping off.
Here I am, living in what felt like a dream. Ibra and Chella taking my direction,
their siblings cheering them on in the background. You could hear the AWWWs
from behind me with every snap. At some point, I nearly shed a tear at how
swell the imagery turned out picking through my camera’s viewfinder.
What I loved about Chella and Ibra, was that they trusted me all the way. My
direction, the choice of location. No questions of doubt. I almost did not feel
real. And yet it was real. Very real.
It was an honour being around all this love. Documenting the beautiful union around family and friends. I could only smile and look-up knowing, this was another History in the making documented for their Legacy.

I love the authenticity of the pictures!!!!
This speaks to me as a lifestyle photographer. I can’t enough of how beautiful these shots are. It’s a true documentation of this couple’s special memory. And the hike idea is brilliant! Rehema, you’re a true artist with your lenses!
